Google Earth Project and Volunteer

Hanging out in cool café’s has its perks. Emily Miller overheard AIDGers and thought what we were doing was pretty cool. So she offered to give us a hand with a specific project—mapping out Xela on Google Earth. We started a “materials mapping” project to help incoming interns find materials, and know how much they cost, the shop’s phone number and address, and any other notes. We’d also like to put on bus routes, hospitals, restaurants, etc, and make all the information available on our website.

A bit on Emily:
“I have a BS in physics and applied mathematics from Juniata college in Huntingdon, PA before coming to Guatemala. I worked for 1.5 years at woods hole oceanographic institution, now I’m teaching English at Colegio Miguel Angel Asturias.”

Thanks Emily!
